I have decided to delite my uploaded shows. All of my LMA shows are no longer available. The reason for this is easy: I love music. Technical stuff doesn`t matter to me at all. But some jerks on this site think, that MD5, Lineage, Tracklistings, etc. are more important than the music itself. People started to get angry with me, because I named tracks not as some stupid Admins/Fans want to have it. - I wanted to share my huge list with all of you. But if you are more into that freaking technical stuff, I have to say, that this is the wrong place for me. However, some other idiot will upload my delited shows again - well, at least I think so. ...

As a jerky admin, I need to say that I attempted to help you. I wasn't angry about the file names, I literally suggested the etree standard as an option. I even said in the end it's up to you.

Checksums are necessary in lossless trading to maintain quality. The LMA is a collection of lossless audio. By definition, there are technical aspects to the file sets. The reason this type of collection exists to is preserve the quality of recordings. People do care more about the quality of the music. This is all about the music. If you don't care about accurate text files and checksums and quality audio, that's fine.

On the other hand, MP3 sourced recordings are low quality. Recordings that have been copied from CD to CD many times over start to lose sound quality. The fact that there are traders/collectors out there that don't care about what that they are listing to and have no problem with watering down the quality of live audio is the very reason lossless audio exists.

Understandably, this type of collecting isn't for everyone.

This site and lossless traders/collectors care more about quality music than text files, naming conventions and checksums. In this case, though, they go hand in hand.

Just to throw my 2 cents in here, administrators aside - who I think do an awesome job here - there are often some nasty comments from the general masses, regarding the techy stuff that Krautrock refers to, that could turn people off from sharing some good stuff they have. I think I've been guilty of that myself. Maybe we could try to keep those comments to a minimum & simply say, "thanks for sharing." Isn't that what it's all about?

I'm sorry you feel we're jerks and idiots, and I do apologize for the FAQs and other literature on this site not being as organized as it could be. Checksums and info files are a required part of uploading. That's how the system is coded, there's no way around it, and as Albix said, it's done that way for a reason.

I think folks were trying to be understanding and helpful, but name-calling, indignation and all-caps emails aren't going to gain you much favor anywhere, let alone trying to tell volunteers how they should be doing their jobs, especially without reading up on how things have been done here for almost ten years.

Too bad we'll miss out on the shows but hopefully they'll find their way back here somehow.
